Path4EMS: Confidential Mental Health Support for Colorado EMS Professionals

By Jessica Nelsen

The Path4EMS program provides free and confidential mental wellness services to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals across Colorado. Designed specifically for first responders, the program connects EMS providers with clinicians who understand the unique challenges and trauma associated with emergency response work.

Path4EMS is committed to ensuring EMS professionals have timely access to resources that support both physical and emotional well-being. In addition to direct services, the program collaborates with other responder-focused initiatives to promote long-term resilience and wellness.

Currently, Path4EMS partners with multiple first responder–focused clinical providers and practices throughout Colorado, offering both in-person and telehealth options. A full list of participating providers is available at www.path4ems.org.

Program Benefits:

  • Up to $1,875.00 (approx. 15 sessions) per year based on a rolling calendar as long as certification is maintained
  • No upfront cost to participants
  • Services may be available to immediate family members
  • Access to culturally competent, first responder–informed clinicians

How to Enroll:
Enrollment is quick and straightforward. EMS professionals simply contact the Path4EMS Coordinator to verify their Colorado certification. Once verified, a unique participant ID is issued to ensure confidentiality. This ID will be sent to your selected clinical provider for tracking and reimbursement purposes.
