EMS Week Joint Resolution
On January 26, 2010 The Colorado State legislature issued joint resolution 10-008 recognizing EMS providers for their dedication and service to the people of Colorado.  The full resolution reads:

CONCERNING THE RECOGNITION OF EMS PROVIDERS FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO.

WHEREAS, In the state of Colorado, more than 15,000 emergency medical service (EMS) providers respond to over 580,000 calls for assistance each year; and

WHEREAS, Colorado has a wide range of emergency medical care personnel, including emergency medical dispatchers, local first responder units, first aid and rescue squads, mobile intensive care programs, an air EMS program, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and educators, both volunteer and paid professionals; and

WHEREAS, The primary goal of these EMS specialists is to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens of Colorado, along with visitors to our state; and

WHEREAS, In placing the well-being of the public above their personal concerns and, in some instances, risking their lives for the sake of others, the state's EMS specialists exemplify the highest nobility and greatest commitment to humanitarian ideals; and

WHEREAS, The citizens of Colorado benefit from the knowledge, skills, and dedication of EMS specialists, as they work together to ensure prompt and appropriate treatment at the scene of the medical emergency, in transit to the hospital, and in the emergency department; and

WHEREAS, Advances in emergency medical care have increased the number of lives saved every year in Colorado; and

WHEREAS, Colorado desires to continue to improve its EMS system in order to assure all citizens the highest standards of emergency medical care; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixty-seventh General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein:

That the Colorado General Assembly commends each and every EMS specialist in this state for his or her outstanding service to the people of Colorado and applauds the commitment of the EMS community to its pursuit of the proud ambition to serve and care for their fellow citizens.

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this Joint Resolution be sent to Howard Paul, Executive Director of the Emergency Medical Services Association of Colorado (EMSAC).
